A half year after the opening of the 'village house' by the Fair-grounds Foundation and the Peeze Foundation, a large number of activities took place in this so-called Communitea center. It is a multifunctional village house, allowing a wide range of functions and activities. A festive Christmas gathering has taken place with dance and music provided by children. An information meeting on vegetables and explanations about nutritional values and methods of preparation could count on a large number of people interested. But also a mini music concert for the children on the estate as well as meetings of Fairtrade committee members took place. And the new year has of course started with a cozy New Year's celebration.
This village house has a socio-cultural function. It is a public meeting place for the residents of the Abbotsleigh Tea Estate. The village house also contributes to social cohesion on the Estate. Depending on the needs of the residents and the current themes that play, activities are organized.
Board of the Fair-grounds Foundation has again planned a visit to Sri Lanka for the evaluation of new projects in the second quarter of 2019. Of course a visit to the Communitea Center will be made as well.
